The Ondo State Police Command has arrested seven suspects in connection with the theft of goods worth ₦20.45 million from a commercial shop in Ore, Odigbo Local Government Area of the state.
Police said three of the suspects worked at the shop, while four others were accused of receiving the stolen goods. Those arrested include Oyineke Joseph, a storekeeper; Abioye Yusuf, a computer operator; Abdullahi Quadir; and alleged receivers Micheal Njoku, Agu Monday and Ikuemehin Oloruntimilehin. A driver identified as Ojewuyi was also linked to the incident.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Abayomi Jimoh, said the matter was reported by the shop owner, Ogunyomi Segun. He explained that the owner accused some employees of stealing goods from the shop over a period of time.
According to the police, investigations revealed that assorted soft drinks, Trophy cans and other canned beverages were taken from the shop, with the total value estimated at ₦20.45 million. Jimoh said all the suspects confessed and clearly explained the roles they played in the operation.
He added that the suspects would be charged to court after investigations are completed, while urging members of the public to stay alert and report suspicious activities. The police also assured residents that the command remains committed to tackling crime across the state.
