The Nasarawa State Police Command has arrested a notorious kidnapper and rescued two students of the Federal University, Lafia, from captivity.
According to a statement from the command’s spokesperson, Ramhan Nansel, the rescue operation followed a distress call received at about 9:20 p.m. on Sunday.
The report indicated that suspected kidnappers had attacked a student lodge behind Nasara Estate, Tudun Kauri, and abducted two students, Sadiq Adinoyi and Sakina Adinoyi.
Acting swiftly, Commissioner of Police Shetima Mohammed deployed operatives from the anti-kidnapping unit and ‘A’ Division to track down the perpetrators.
Intelligence gathering led officers to a forest behind the 500 Housing Unit along Doma Road, Lafia, where a rescue operation took place on April 1, 2025, at about 11:30 a.m.
Upon engaging the kidnappers in a gun battle, the police forced the assailants to flee in different directions, leaving the victims behind.
The students were safely rescued, and one suspect, identified as Ibrahim Musa from Abuni village in Awe Local Government Area, was arrested at the scene.
The police stated that Musa has made valuable confessions and is assisting in ongoing investigations.
Commissioner Mohammed praised the officers for their efforts and reaffirmed the command’s commitment to eradicating criminal activities in the state.
