The Ogun State police command has arrested one Lukman Shonubi, 32, a member of a notorious cult group, Eiye confraternity. During interrogation by Alaroye a dedicated Yoruba news platform, Lukman confessed to have participated in the killing of at least 8 people in the past.

He said, “The people that we killed are members of a rival cult group, Aiye confraternity. The reason why I took part in their killings was because, one day, when I was at home with my younger brother, they came and burnt the house. I managed to escape but my younger brother died in the attack.

I have not gained anything from being a cultist. In fact I have lost so many things. I lost my brother, I lost the job I learnt which I was supposed to focus on. Even my father disowned me after I became a cultist because he is a member of the So Safe corps.”
