Plateau re-run: ADP floors APC, others in Jang’s polling unit

The Action Democratic Party has won the re-run election in Rabin Du polling unit in Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State.

Rabin Du is the poling unit of former Plateau State Governor, Jonah Jang.

A total of 334 voters were registered in the polling unit while 194 were accredited.

From the result collated by the Presiding Officer of the poling unit, Lassa Abacha, ADC scored 159 votes to defeat six other parties that also participated in the re-run.

The scores further revealed that the Action Alliance got one vote; the All Progressives Congress had two; MAP had two; the African Democratic Congress with 12 votes and the Labour Party with 15 votes.

A total of 134 ballot papers were not used while seven were marked as “spoiled.”

Jang, who earlier cast his votes at the polling unit, lamented the poor turnout of voters during the re-run.

In an interview with journalists, Jang blamed the situation on the exclusion of his party, the Peoples Democratic Party, from participating in the re-run which he noted had dampened the morale of the people

The former Governor said, “It is a reflection of the level of trust that people have in the system that has resulted in what we’re seeing today. Plateau is PDP and PDP is Plateau.

“So, if you remove the PDP from the ballot and said the party and the candidates should not participate, what do you expect the people to do? So, that is the problem.”
