Petrol tanker catches fire in Ibadan

By Miracle Ogunde

A petrol tanker has reportedly caught fire at the Aduloju area along Iwo road/Ojoo end of the Lagos-Ibadan expressway on Thursday.

Tribune reports that the affected truck fell while trying to manoeuvre its way as well as dodge another truck on the pothole-dotted expressway.

This, however, made motorists and other road users scampered for safety.

The people in the neighbourhood and road users alerted the state fire services in order to avoid the raging fire from being spread to nearby houses.

Confirming the incident, the General Manager of State Fire Services, Revd. Akinyemi Akinyinka, said one tanker caught fire but could not ascertain the level of the casualty.

“Our men are at the scene of the incident now. They are managing the result. They are being assisted by the staff of the BOVAS filling station.

“The details of the incident will be ready tomorrow,” the Fire Services said.
