The Abia State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has strongly opposed recent comments by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, regarding the suspension of Adolphus Wabara.
According to Afripost Wabara, who is the Chairman of the PDP Board of Trustees (BoT), was suspended by the state party leadership, a decision that has sparked controversy.
Responding to Ologunagba’s remarks, Abia PDP Chairman, Abraham Amah, maintained that the suspension stands and cannot be overturned. He argued that the decision was taken in line with the party’s constitution, dismissing the national spokesperson’s statement as a personal opinion rather than an official position of the National Working Committee (NWC).
“Our party operates a structure similar to a federal system, which gives state chapters the authority to discipline members without prior approval from the NWC,” Amah explained.
He further stressed that the Abia PDP acted within its rights and does not require the NWC’s endorsement for disciplinary measures, provided they comply with the party’s constitution.
“All our actions are guided by the PDP constitution, and we ensure that due process is followed in every decision we make,” he added.
