PDP reacts to Sowore’s defection, says he wasn’t our member since a year ago

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State has reacted to the defection of Akin Sowore, a former caretaker chairman of Ese Odo Local Government Area of Ondo State who defected to the ruling All Progressive Congress yesterday.

The PDP in a statement signed by Mr Festus Oboro, the Chairman of PDP in Apoi ward 2, Ese Odo local government, the party said on Saturday morning that Sowore has long been expected to leave the PDP for the ruling APC officially because he has been hobnobbing with the ruling APC for almost a year and also taking salary as an aide to an APC lawmaker in Ondo State even as at the time he was still claiming to be a member of the PDP.

The statement reads: ”We have just read online the defection of Mr Akin Sowore, the former caretaker chairman of Ese Odo Local government during Mimiko/Labour party tenure to the ruling APC.”

”Mr Sowore has long been expected to leave the PDP since he has been hobnobbing with the ruling APC for almost a year now.”

”It’s on record that Mr Sowore is in the payroll of an APC lawmaker in Ondo State as an Adviser even when he was claiming to be in the PDP. It is a matter of he who pays the Piper dictates the tune.”

”This is his season and we concede to him his right of Association. From Labour party to the PDP later to AD back to the PDP until his recent defection to the APC. Do not be surprised that he would come back to the PDP after our party’s victory on October 10, 2020.”

”Consequently, we have no problem with his defection. What we frowned at was how he packaged some Known and unknown faces to the venue of his political theatrics and named them PDP Executives.”

”For clarity, the only Principal Executive member of the PDP in Apoi ward 2 that joined his political hara-kiri is the youth leader, Mr Paul Bolorunopani who will soon be replaced by a dedicated and loyal member of the party pursuant to Section 47(6) of our party’s Constitution 2017 (as amended).”

”PDP in Apoi ward 2 of Ese Odo LG remains strong and as a party poised to winning the forthcoming Governorship election in Ondo state., we have deployed all our Arsenals to our various units to sensitise voters for the purpose of winning the coming elections.”
