PDP Crisis, Political Inconsistency Pushed Me to APC – Osun Rep Ajilesoro

Member of the House of Representatives representing Ife Federal Constituency, Chief Abimbola Ajilesoro, has formally joined the All Progressives Congress (APC), citing unresolved internal conflicts and lack of ideological direction within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as reasons for his defection.

Ajilesoro made his defection public on the floor of the House on Thursday, July 24, 2025, and later issued a statement on Sunday to clarify the motives behind his political move.

According to the lawmaker, the PDP in Osun State has been plagued by internal divisions and inconsistent political strategies, which he said have caused confusion and eroded trust among its members.

“The PDP leadership in Osun had made overtures toward aligning with the progressives, but internal narratives shifted along the way.

“Consistency is the true foundation of trust. Either keep your promises or do not make them,” he said.

Ajilesoro criticized what he described as a contradictory posture by PDP leaders, accusing them of double dealings—collaborating secretly with rival parties while presenting a different image to the public.

“As someone who believes in political loyalty and ideological alignment, I find it untenable to remain in a party that covertly supports the opposition while presenting a contradictory public stance,” the statement said.

Declaring his loyalty to President Bola Tinubu and the APC, the lawmaker said he has fully aligned with the ruling party and pledged to work for its victory in upcoming elections.

“Loyalty to one’s party and its leadership is non-negotiable in my political ideology. I have, therefore, chosen to align fully with the progressive camp and support the re-election of President Tinubu and all the APC candidates across the board,” he added.
