Pastor Enenche declines N30m donation from Kebbi Gov at crusade

Dr Paul Enenche, the Senior Pastor of Dunamis International Gospel Centre, has turned down a N30 million donation made by the Governor of Kebbi State, Nasir Idris, during a religious crusade held in the state.

The offer was announced by the state’s Commissioner for Social Welfare, Zayyanu Umar Aliero, who represented the governor at the Kebbi Healing and Deliverance Crusade.

Addressing attendees, Aliero revealed that the governor had approved a cash contribution of N30 million for the event and that the funds were ready to be handed over to the crusade organisers.

He described Governor Idris as a man of his word who does not hesitate to fulfil his promises, highlighting the immediacy of the donation as a show of goodwill and support for the church.

However, Pastor Enenche, while speaking to the congregation, politely declined the offer.

He urged that the money should instead be directed towards charitable causes, particularly to orphanages
and the underprivileged.

He made it clear that his ministry does not accept government money for church-related purposes, noting that public funds should be used for the welfare of the people.

He also pointed out that Dunamis International Gospel Centre has never relied on government funding, citing the construction of the Glory Dome—the church’s headquarters in Abuja—as an example of a completely independent project, from land acquisition to the completion of the building.

The pastor explained that the church’s decision to reject government funds is based on a desire to maintain moral clarity and spiritual independence, adding that partnerships with official Christian bodies like the Christian Association of Nigeria or the Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board would be more appropriate channels for such donations.

“This ensures the church remains a voice of truth and integrity without any obligations or influence from political figures,” he said.

Commissioner Aliero, responding to Pastor Enenche’s remarks, expressed admiration for his conviction and thanked him for his ongoing spiritual contributions to the people of Kebbi State.
