Pastor Adefarasin Released on Bail After Police Confirm Stun Gun in Viral Video

Pastor Paul Adefarasin, leader of the House on the Rock Church, was granted bail by the Lagos State Police Command after a recent viral video raised concerns over a weapon-like object in his possession.

The incident began when a video surfaced online showing Adefarasin inside a Range Rover, speaking to someone outside his car while holding a black object.

The video led to public speculation, with many suggesting it was a firearm.

After the video went viral, Adefarasin turned himself in to the police on Tuesday.

He was then questioned at the State Command Headquarters. During the session, he gave a written statement and explained his side of the incident.

Police later confirmed that the item seen in the video was not a real gun but a stun gun, which is a banned anti-riot device.

While not a firearm, stun guns are not allowed for personal use in Nigeria.

The pastor was allowed to go home on bail, while the police said their investigation into the matter is still ongoing.

The authorities did not mention whether further legal steps would follow.

The incident has continued to spark debates on social media, with some defending the cleric and others criticizing the use of such equipment.

The pastor had earlier posted online, stating that he never held or pointed a gun at anyone and that the object in question was misunderstood.

The 62-year-old cleric also addressed his church members during a live-streamed Sunday service, reacting to the public backlash and expressing how the situation affected him emotionally.

Although the matter is still being looked into by security officials, the recovery of the stun gun has clarified what was actually held in the video.
