Osun PDP Breaks Silence Over Rumours of Adeleke Joining APC

The Osun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has dismissed rumors regarding an alleged plan by Governor Ademola Adeleke to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In a statement released on Saturday, the Osun PDP asserted that neither Adeleke nor the established structures of the ruling party in the state would be joining the opposition APC.

Speculation about Adeleke and the entire PDP structure defecting to the APC had circulated widely on Friday. However, Osun PDP chairman Sunday Bisi responded to these rumors, labeling them as “falsehoods” orchestrated by “jittery elements within the opposition.” He described it as a desperate attempt to distract the people of Osun State from the ongoing transformation led by Governor Adeleke.

Bisi acknowledged the tension and anxiety these rumors have caused among party members, supporters, and stakeholders. He emphasized that the PDP remains “intact, cohesive, and more committed than ever” to the mission of rescuing and rebuilding Osun State.

“Those spreading the lie of defection are merely rejected politicians and agents of retrogression, who are fearful of Governor Adeleke’s growing popularity and performance,” Bisi stated, despite ongoing attempts to undermine the progress being made for the people.

He further assured that the PDP administration in Osun, adhering to its open-door policy, is committed to transparency and inclusivity. “Your voices are heard, your feedback is valued, and your concerns are being addressed with utmost sincerity,” Bisi added.

The chairman urged the citizens of Osun to disregard the mischief of those whose legacy is merely the plundering of state resources. He reiterated that the Adeleke administration, supported by the PDP, is focused on service delivery, responsive governance, and the upliftment of all communities across the state.

“To the people of Osun, your unwavering support, constant engagement, and public displays of affection are deeply appreciated. We remain grateful and even more dedicated to the collective vision for a greater Osun State,” Bisi concluded.
