…‘Don’t Mistake Me for a Desperate Politician’

Ondo All Progressive Congress (APC) chieftain and the Spokesperson for Governor Aiyedatiwa Campaign Organization in the last Election, Barr. Banji Ben Okunomo (BBO) has responded to social media campaign calling for his appointment as OSOPADEC Chairman.

In a swift response made available to newsmen in Akure, BBO as he is fondly called said he did not hire anyone or group of persons to do social media campaign for such an appointment.

While appreciating the fact that some youths thought it wise to embark on such campaign, BBO said when it comes to the issue of appointments which are totally different from elective positions, it is essentially an issue of lobbying and only Mr. Governor can determine who gets what.

“In the last 48 hours, the social media have been awashed with my pictures as some youths on their own volition made requests asking Mr. Governor to consider me for appointment as OSOPADEC chairman.

While I am not going to discourage such request, it is important I clear the air that I didn’t initiate such strategy as that can’t be my strategy given my level of political experience. I never contacted any one to do so. They have their inalienable rights to do so. But for me, such a strategy might be misinterpreted by some people to portray me a desperate politician.

As a person, I’m not desperate for the position of Chairman of OSOPADECas there are better platforms in Government to serve, however,if it comes from Mr. Governor that l should serve in such capacity, I am not going to reject it.

I will see it as a call to greater service and an opportunity to put smiles on the faces of my people in Ilaje and Ese/Odo LGs in line with the mandate of OSOPADEC.

I have served before as a Local Government chairman and I have a very good record of achievements in office and that is why people are speaking loud about it and still want me to serve their interest”
