Oshiomhole Supports Suspension of Edo Local Government Chairmen, Deputies

Former Edo State Governor and current Senator representing Edo North, Adams Oshiomhole, has endorsed the suspension of the 18 elected local government chairmen and their deputies by the Edo State House of Assembly.

Speaking to journalists at his residence in Iyamho, Estako West Local Government Area, Oshiomhole commended the Assembly’s decision, aligning himself with Governor Monday Okpebholo’s stance against alleged financial mismanagement under the previous administration.

Oshiomhole accused the suspended council chairmen of channeling substantial funds to the former governor, Godwin Obaseki, instead of utilizing resources for grassroots development. He praised Governor Okpebholo for taking decisive action to curb what he described as financial malpractice.

“People know there’s a new sheriff in town. He’s stopping the bad guys and halting the bleeding that Edo was experiencing,” Oshiomhole remarked. “It’s no secret that local government councils were paying huge sums to his predecessor, and the governor has said, ‘Not while I’m here.’ This money should be used to develop our communities.”

The Edo State House of Assembly had suspended the local government executives for two months over allegations of insubordination and gross misconduct. The suspension followed a petition from Governor Okpebholo, who accused the council officials of failing to submit financial account statements to the state government.

  1. Oshiomhole is a controversial person, he stood at the floor of the house to condemn governors interfering with local government administration, and here he’s applauding the illegality of the Edo State Governor’s oppressive action on the 18 local government,
What kind of a double standard man is oshiomhole?
