Operatives of EFCC Caught on Camera Assaulting Woman in Lagos Hotel

A video has surfaced online showing operatives from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) breaking into a hotel room and assaulting a woman. The footage, recorded by a Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) camera, emerged on Thursday and depicts the incident at the Regional Hotel in Ojo, Lagos.

In the video, EFCC agents can be seen forcefully breaking into the hotel room, causing damage to the door. One of the operatives then slaps the woman before pushing her onto the bed.

In response to public outrage over the conduct of the officers, EFCC Chairman Ola Olukoyede condemned their actions and ordered their arrest.

“The executive chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Mr. Ola Olukoyede, has ordered the arrest of two officers of the commission allegedly involved in the manhandling of a female staff of Regional Hotel, Ojo, Lagos,” read a statement by EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale on Thursday.

The statement continued, “The officers were seen in a viral video assaulting the hotel staff during an early morning sting operation in Lagos. The operation resulted in the apprehension of a sizable number of suspects who are still being profiled.”
