Ongoing Voters Registration: South-South leads other zones in Nigeria

The South-South region of Nigeria has the most number of new people who have completed the ongoing continuous voter’s registration (CVR) exercise being undertaken by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Starnews Nigeria can report.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) recently released figures of the ongoing voter registration with the South-South geopolitical zone leading other zones in Nigeria in the ongoing exercise.

The exercise by INEC which is aimed at adding new voters to the existing voters’ record was started on June 28, 2022, across the country, and it is scheduled to end on July 31, 2022.

The figures released by INEC as of 7 am on Monday, July 25, 2022, indicate that the South-South has the highest number of newly registered voters in the country with a total of 2, 255, 070 completed registrations, closely followed by the North West, which has so far recorded 2,197,607 completed registrations.

The North Central which includes the Federal Capital Territory came third with 2, 802, 156 completed registrations while the South West occupied the fourth position with 1, 841, 602 completed registrations.

The North East and the South East are in the 5th and 6th positions respectively. The North East which has six states recorded 1, 372, 712 completed registrations while the South East with five states came last with 1, 261, 669 completed registrations.
