The Ondo State Police Command has disrupted an alleged ritual plot in Ile-Oluji, arresting two suspects and rescuing a 10-year-old boy reportedly earmarked for the act.
The development was disclosed in a statement issued by the command’s spokesperson, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, and made available to newsmen.
According to the statement, the suspects were apprehended on December 27, 2025, after operatives of the SWAT Tactical Team acted on credible intelligence.
Police sources said the operation was triggered by information provided by a concerned member of the community who alerted security agents to a suspected ritual plan in the area.
Those arrested were identified as Maria, aged 53, and her son, Adewale, 28.
The statement noted that the child was rescued during the operation and promptly taken to a hospital for medical treatment.
Preliminary investigations by the police revealed that the suspects allegedly planned to engage an herbalist to use the minor for money ritual purposes.
The command stated that the suspects, who are currently being held in custody, admitted their involvement in the alleged crime and would be prosecuted once investigations are concluded.
Commending the officers involved in the operation, the Commissioner of Police, Ondo State Command, CP Adebowale Lawal, underscored the role of intelligence gathering in preventing crime before it occurs.
He assured residents that the command remains committed to the protection of lives and property across the state.
CP Lawal also warned mothers against participating in criminal activities, urging them to set good examples for their children.
He further advised parents to discourage the pursuit of quick wealth among youths and instead promote the values of diligence and integrity.
The police command called on members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the nearest police station, stressing that community support is vital to sustaining public safety.
