Ondo, Ogun PDP Leaders Storm Ede To Congratulate Adeleke

Ondo and Ogun state leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Wednesday stormed Ede town in a solidarity visit to Senator Nurudeen Ademola Adeleke over his recent victory at the just-concluded Osun State governorship election.

Starnews Nigeria reports that the team led by a former National Vice Chairman of the PDP in South West, Chief Eddy Olafeso, also has the Senator representing Ondo South Senatorial district, Otunba Nicholas Tofowomo, and Hon. Oladipupo Adebutu, a former member of the House of Representatives and the flag bearer of the PDP in Ogun State ahead of the 2023 general elections.

Speaking on behalf of the team, Chief Olafeso said the team was in Osun to celebrate the liberation of the good people of Osun State from the last 12 years of retrogression orchestrated by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

“We came here to celebrate the liberation of Osun People from the last 12 years of retrogression orchestrated by the ruling APC. Osun State has been turned into the poverty capital of the world. But today, the cleansing has begun with the election of Senator Ademola Adeleke,” he said.

Olafeso urged the leaders of the party to support the governor-elect to succeed. “Ask for what you can do for Osun State under the leadership of the Governor-elect for him to succeed and not what the Governor-elect can do for you,” Olafeso added.

In his speech, Adebutu said he was extremely happy because a few months ago, he was part of the process that ushered in the Governor-elect and the revival of the PDP in the Southwest.

Adebutu saluted the governor-elect and prayed that the wind of change will blow through the entire southwest states. “ I believe that the God that did it for Senator Ademola Adeleke in Osun will also favour me in Ogun ahead of the 2023 general elections,” he added.

In short remarks, the Osun State Governor-elect, Senator Adeleke appreciated Olafeso and Adebutu for their support.

He said: “Dr Olafeso, you are part of the process, you have produced a governor and history will judge you for standing by me. You supported me in 2018 and I won the election but I was robbed of my victory because it was not yet time. But now, you have produced a governor, I will not leave you. I will need your advice, I will need your experience to move Osun State forward”, Senator Adeleke said.

“The governor-elect told Adebutu: “I never knew that God will favour me this way. The God that did it for me in Osun will do it for you in Ogun State. I appreciate you for supporting me with all your resources. I promised you, my brother, you have my support. We will take over Ogun State as we did in Osun State. The God who favoured me will favour you. I will come to Ogun State to campaign for you and I will support you”, he said.

Senator Adeleke promised to bring development to Osun State. He said he is a child of Light and that Light has now triumphed over darkness in Osun State.

He added in the Yoruba language, “Imole ti de, Okunkun ti parada ni Osun. I will never let you down and I will not disappoint my people. Thank you very much, I appreciate you all and I love you.”
