Ondo NSCDC nabs farmers, students for burglary, theft

The Ondo State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has arrested four suspects in connection with a burglary that occurred while the victim was away at church.

According to a press statement issued on Tuesday by the command’s Public Relations Officer, DSC Daniel Aidamenbor, the suspects were apprehended following a complaint from a resident of Peace and Joy Community, located off Airport Road, Oba Ile, whose home was broken into on Sunday, 9 July, 2025.

Acting on the report, NSCDC operatives tracked a stolen Apple iPad using its SIM card, which led to the arrest of four individuals. The suspects were identified as: James Emmanuel Reuben, 23, student, Monday Reuben, 19, student, Japason Joshua, 21, a farmer from Gombe,vLucas Joshua, 23, a farmer from Gombe

    The corps disclosed that James Emmanuel, described as a “soft target,” cooperated with investigators and assisted in apprehending the other suspects. He has since been granted bail based on legal advice.

    Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects burgled the victim’s residence while she was at a church programme. The suspects have reportedly confessed to the crime.

    A search conducted at their residence led to the recovery of several stolen items belonging to the complainant, including food items, household equipment, clothing, and the Apple iPad.

    The NSCDC urged residents to remain vigilant and continue providing credible information to enhance security efforts across the state.

    “The command remains committed to ridding Ondo State of criminal elements and ensuring the safety of all residents,” Aidamenbor stated.
