Ondo Govt Unveils 10-Point Blueprint to Empower Women

The Ondo State Government has unveiled a comprehensive 10-point blueprint aimed at empowering women and fostering gender inclusion across the state.

The blueprint, launched in Akure by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Women Affairs, Dr. (Mrs.) Seun Osamaye, highlights the Aiyedatiwa-led administration’s commitment to improving the socio-economic wellbeing of women through targeted initiatives in entrepreneurship, education, health, and governance.

According to Dr. Osamaye, the blueprint is a strategic framework designed to uplift women, especially in rural areas, through sustainable development programmes that promote equality, empowerment, and leadership.

“This administration recognises the vital role of women in building a prosperous society. This 10-point plan is a bold step towards creating an enabling environment for women to thrive and lead,” she stated.

The blueprint covers the following priority areas:

1. Disbursement of grants and business support for women entrepreneurs.
2. Promotion of women’s inclusion in governance and decision-making positions.
3. Expansion of digital literacy and the Tech Girl Initiative.
4. Improved access to quality healthcare, including reproductive and maternal health services.
5. Introduction of menstrual hygiene programmes in schools.
6. Skills acquisition and vocational training schemes.
7. Strengthening rural women’s participation in the economy.
8. Public-private partnerships for women empowerment.
9. Enhanced legal and policy frameworks for gender equality.
10. Financial literacy and savings schemes for women.

Dr. Osamaye emphasized that over 1,000 women have already benefited from the state’s empowerment programmes, including the recent disbursement of ₦35 million in grants to female entrepreneurs across the 18 local government areas.

The event, which coincided with a capacity-building session for members of the National Council for Women Societies (NCWS) in Akure, drew participation from women leaders, youth advocates, and development partners.

Stakeholders praised the initiative, describing it as a step in the right direction toward reducing poverty among women and encouraging inclusive governance.
