NYSC Addresses Corps Members Over Delay in June Allowance

By Doris Israel Ijeoma

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has provided an explanation for the delay in disbursing the monthly allowance to serving corps members for the month of June 2023.

According to a statement released on Sunday by Eddy Megwa, the Director of Press and Public Relations for the NYSC, the delay is a result of the banks responsible for managing the funds not yet crediting the accounts of corps members.

The statement reads, ” The NYSC management is fully aware of the situation and is actively working in collaboration with the banks to expedite the payment process and ensure that corps members receive their allowances in a timely manner.

“In the interim, the NYSC appeals for calm and cooperation from the corps members, urging them to remain committed to their duties and abide by the laws and regulations governing their service.

” The current delay can be attributed to the administrative procedures followed by the banks responsible for handling the funds, which have yet to credit the accounts of corps members.

” To address this issue promptly, the NYSC management is actively engaging with the banks to expedite the payment process and ensure that corps members receive their June allowances without any further delay.

” In light of this situation, the NYSC urges all corps members to remain calm, law-abiding, and committed to their national service duties. The welfare of corps members remains a top priority for the NYSC, and all relevant matters concerning their well-being will be handled with utmost importance and urgency.

” It is important for corps members to understand that the delay in payment is not within the control of the NYSC but rather the result of administrative procedures followed by the banks. The NYSC is taking the necessary steps to resolve this matter promptly and ensure that corps members receive their allowances as soon as possible.

” During this period, it is essential for corps members to remain patient and cooperative. Their dedication and adherence to the rules and regulations of the NYSC are greatly appreciated, and the NYSC recognizes the significant contributions they make to national development through their service.

” The NYSC management assures corps members that every effort is being made to rectify the situation, and they will be duly informed once the issue is resolved and the allowances are disbursed.”
