With just two matches to the end of the 2021/2022 Nigeria Professional Football League season, the General Manager of Sunshine Stars of Akure, Tunde Ogunja, has shifted focus to next season, Starnews understand.

The Akure Gunners started the season like a house on fire despite playing their home games away from home.

They adopted Dipo Dina Stadium in Ijebu Ode as their home after the League Management Company placed a ban on Akure Township stadium.

Their coach Deji Ayeni left the team to join Akwa United but they were still able to hold themselves together and continue to impress as the season progresses.

As they prepare to host Remo Stars on matchday 37, the manager said they have been rebuilding and everything will come into place next season.

“Sunshine Stars will be the team to beat next season when the process would have reached its zenith. We have been rebuilding gradually but we will come out with full force next season,” he said.

Sunshine are placed 7th on the table with 51 points in 36 games
