Nine New Police Commissioners Appointed Across States

The Police Service Commission (PSC) has announced the appointment of nine new Commissioners of Police (CPs) to various state commands in Nigeria.

This development is aimed at improving the operations of the police force and ensuring that the Tactical Units within these commands do not take over the functions of the recognized Police Departments.

According to the PSC, the Tactical Units, usually led by Deputy Commissioners of Police, have in the past undermined established departments, reducing their effectiveness.

The newly appointed CPs were urged to restore balance and prioritize the proper functioning of these departments.

The appointments include Ibrahim Balarabe Maikaba from Kano State, now serving as CP in Zamfara; Breret Emmanuel Simon from Plateau State, assigned to Taraba; and Christopher Ado Emmanuel from Niger State, appointed as CP in Yobe. Olusegun Eyitayo Omosayin, formerly in Ondo, will take charge as the CP of Cross Rivers. Others are Adamu Abdullahi Elleman from Jigawa, who previously headed the IGP Monitoring Unit and is now CP in Niger; Sani Omolori Aliyu from Kogi, heading to Bauchi; Bello Shehu from Gombe, now CP in Katsina; Saka Adewale Ajao from Ogun, assigned to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT); and Ojo Adekimi from Ekiti, who will now serve as CP in Kwara.
