The Nigerian Armed Forces have announced the promotion of a total of 254 senior officers across the Army and Navy.
The Nigerian Army elevated 108 officers, while the Navy advanced 146 officers to higher ranks.
The Nigerian Army Council promoted 35 Brigadier Generals to Major General and 73 Colonels to Brigadier General.
Notable advancements include Brigadier General A. Garba, Acting Provost Marshal, and Brigadier General U.M. Alkali, Deputy Chief of Administration.
Among the newly elevated Brigadier Generals are Colonel S.M. Iliya of the 43 Engineers Brigade and Colonel O. Igwe of the 78 Supply and Transport.
Similarly, the Nigerian Navy announced the promotion of 24 Commodores to Rear Admiral, 26 Captains to Commodore, and 96 Commanders to Captain.
The promotions, confirmed by the Navy’s spokesperson, underscore the dynamic career progress within the force.
Addressing the newly promoted officers, the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, urged them to exhibit exemplary leadership and develop innovative strategies to address the country’s security challenges.
He emphasized their responsibility to uphold the constitution and serve with integrity and diligence.
Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla, the Chief of Naval Staff, similarly called on the Navy’s newly elevated officers to remain focused on their duties and maintain unwavering allegiance to the nation and its leadership.
