NECO boosts exam credibility with Acquisition of advanced OMR Scanner

The National Examinations Council (NECO) has procured a high-performance Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) scanner to enhance the efficiency, accuracy, and security of its examination processes.

NECO Registrar, Dantani Wushishi, disclosed this during the commissioning of the newly installed scanner at the council’s ICT Department in Niger State on Thursday.

According to a statement by NECO’s spokesperson, Azeez Sani, the acquisition is part of the council’s ongoing efforts to improve the examination system.

Wushishi noted that the machine, a Scantron Insight 1500c, is known for its speed, precision, and capacity to handle large volumes of scripts with efficiency.

He revealed that the scanner, which cost approximately N500 million, is capable of processing 15,000 OMR sheets within an hour.

“This advanced technology will significantly enhance our data processing capabilities, allowing for faster and more accurate results for millions of candidates globally,” Wushishi stated.
