NDLEA Raids Kano Drug Dens, Arrests 49 Suspects

The Kano Strategic Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested 49 suspects in a series of raids targeting notorious drug hubs across the state.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, Sadiq Muhammad-Maigatari, confirmed the development in a statement issued on Wednesday in Kano.

According to him, the coordinated operations were carried out on August 7 and 8 as part of intensified efforts to dismantle drug distribution networks and curb substance abuse in the state.

“On August 7 and 8, the agency dislodged several key locations known for drug-related activities and arrested 34 suspects at Massallacin Idi, Fagge Plaza, Kofar Mata, Kofar Wambai, Kofar Dan’agundi, Makabartar Dan’agundi, Ladanai, Zage, and Tashar Rimi at Rimi Market,” Muhammad-Maigatari stated.

He added that an additional 15 suspects were apprehended during raids on Kano Line Motor Park and Tashar Rami Motor Park in Na’ibawa.

Recovered exhibits include quantities of cannabis sativa, Pregabalin, diazepam, codeine syrup, Rohypnol, “suck and die,” rubber solution, and locally made weapons.

The NDLEA State Commander, Abubakar Idris-Ahmad, noted that the clampdown was part of a broader strategy to disrupt the operations of illicit drug dealers and safeguard communities.

“Since the elevation of NDLEA’s operations to a strategic command level, there has been a marked improvement in the effectiveness and reach of our interventions,” Idris-Ahmad said.

He reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to intensifying its war against drug abuse and trafficking, urging residents to support the fight by providing credible information.
