NANS Leader Tenders Apology To Seyi Tinubu

A factional president of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Atiku Abubakar Isah, has admitted that his previous accusations against Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu, were false.

He made the apology in a public message on Facebook on Wednesday, May 7, 2025.

The controversy began when Atiku released a viral video in April, claiming that Seyi Tinubu and Minister of Youth and Sports Development Ayodele Olawande had invited him to Lagos.

According to him, they offered him ₦100 million to back President Tinubu’s administration. He also alleged that he was abducted after rejecting the offer on April 15.

Now, Atiku says the entire story was not true. He explained that a fellow student leader, Ladoja Olusola, misled him.

According to Atiku, Olusola gave him wrong information to push him out of office and gain control of NANS.

Atiku described the move as a plan to take power through unfair means, using false stories to stir tension.

He further claimed that Olusola warned him that Seyi Tinubu could harm him and use top police officers to cover it up.

Atiku said he believed the threats at the time, which added to his fear and confusion.

Atiku also withdrew another part of his earlier statement where he said Seyi Tinubu led a group of thugs to disrupt his inauguration.

He now says Seyi was never there and had no link to the incident.
