The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has commenced the airlift of Nigerian pilgrims back to the country following the completion of the 2025 Hajj in Saudi Arabia.
In a statement issued by the Commission’s Principal Information Officer, Shafii Mohammed, a total of 1,310 pilgrims have been flown back to Nigeria through four different flights operated by designated carriers.
According to the data, MaxAir operated flight VM269, which departed Jeddah for Bauchi with 551 pilgrims and seven accompanying officials.
Another flight, Flynas XY9006, transported 413 pilgrims and six officials to Kebbi.
UMZA flight UY3534 took 41 pilgrims and 122 officials to Abuja, while Air Peace APK7901 conveyed 305 pilgrims and seven officials to Owerri.
NAHCON confirmed that approximately 63,000 Nigerian pilgrims participated in this year’s Hajj, and the return process will continue in batches until all are safely back in the country.
