NAF Airstrikes Thwart ISWAP/Boko Haram Offensive, Destroy Terror Hideouts in Borno, Katsina

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has achieved significant operational success with a series of precision airstrikes that dismantled terror cells in Katsina State and thwarted a coordinated offensive by ISWAP and Boko Haram in Chibok, Borno.

This information was detailed in a statement released by the Director of Public Relations and Information, NAF, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, on Sunday in Abuja.

Ejodame noted that the NAF’s latest successes, executed under Operation FANSAN YAMMA and Operation HADIN KAI, were the result of intelligence-led surveillance that enabled fighter aircraft to strike accurately and disrupt multiple hostile movements across both regions.

In Katsina, air interdictions carried out on November 27 targeted the fortified base of a notorious terrorist leader responsible for kidnappings, attacks, and cattle rustling across the Kankara, Faskari, and Malumfashi areas.

He reported that the first strike, occurring around 6:30 a.m., destroyed key structures and neutralized fighters attempting to escape after surveillance aircraft tracked their movements. “A second strike later in the evening hit another major hideout in Danfako, Faskari Local Government Area, destroying logistics centers and operational facilities used by the criminals,” he added.

“Several terrorists were killed, further weakening their network and denying them freedom of operation in the North-West,” Ejodame stated.

In the North-East, he explained that NAF aircraft provided decisive support to troops of the 28 Task Force Brigade when ISWAP/Boko Haram fighters launched a multi-directional assault on Chibok. Four airstrikes targeted regrouping and retreating terrorists, inflicting heavy casualties and preventing the insurgents from reorganizing.

Ejodame emphasized that the integrated air-ground response ensured the attackers were overwhelmed, safeguarding residents and averting what could have been a major setback for security in the area. He reaffirmed the NAF’s commitment to precision strikes aimed at degrading terrorist capabilities and restoring peace across the country, adding that coordination with ground forces will remain a priority.
