MultiChoice Nigeria has announced the appointment of Kemi Omotosho as its new Chief Executive Officer, following the retirement of John Ugbe after almost 15 years at the helm of the pay television company.
The company said Omotosho will assume office in January, marking a new phase in its operations in Nigeria. Ugbe is stepping down after leading the organisation through significant changes in the media and broadcasting industry.
Omotosho brings more than 20 years of experience spanning media, telecommunications and digital services across Nigeria and sub-Saharan Africa. She has held several senior roles within the MultiChoice Group, including Executive Head of Customer Value Management in Nigeria and Group Executive Head of Customer Value Management for the Rest of Africa.
Before her latest appointment, she served as Regional Director for Southern Africa, where she oversaw operations in seven countries and was responsible for overall business performance in the region.
Speaking on her appointment, Omotosho described Nigeria as a key market for the Group, saying it was an honour to be entrusted with the leadership of the company. She said she looks forward to working closely with teams and partners to strengthen customer relationships, promote local storytelling and the creative industry, and build a resilient organisation focused on long-term value.
MultiChoice said the leadership change followed a carefully planned transition process designed to ensure stability and continuity in the company’s Nigerian operations.
