Midnight Fire razes Over 500 Stalls In Sokoto

A midnight fire that broke out at the Sokoto State timber shed has razed over 500 stalls also known as Karan katako and in the market.

As reported by Channels TV, the Chairman of the timber shed market, Modi Maje Maikatako, said over 4,000 traders operating in the market were affected as most traders list everything to the fire incident.

According to him, operators at the timber shed put all precautionary measures in place but the fire incident happened mysteriously and has caused damage to the tune of billions of naira.

Earlier in January, a fire disaster in Sokoto metropolis caused the death of four persons, a daughter to the Secretary to the State Government of Sokoto, Muhammad Bello Sifawa, and her three children.

In March 2024, over 180 stalls at the Sokoto State Central Market were razed down by a fire outbreak that started in the early hours of the day.
