Man Charged for Threatening Trump’s Life

A man from Butler, Pennsylvania, has been arrested and charged after allegedly posting threats online to kill former President Donald Trump and other government officials.

The 32-year-old, identified as Shawn Monper, used the online name “Mr Satan” to make threatening comments.

The FBI was alerted after Monper’s posts on YouTube, where he called for violence against Trump and those associated with his administration.

Monper had a firearms permit and, according to the Department of Justice, began acquiring weapons and ammunition shortly after Trump’s inauguration in January 2017.

On February 17, Monper posted a message on his account calling for the killing of Trump, his advisor Elon Musk, and other high-ranking officials, including those working for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

In one post, Monper referred to a second American Revolution, claiming that the political climate would weaken Trump’s supporters.

He later threatened to personally assassinate Trump during a March 4 YouTube broadcast.

The threats are under investigation, as Monper was living in Butler, the same town where a shooting attempt on Trump took place at a campaign rally in July 2024.

The shooting left one person dead and several others injured.

Monper is facing charges of making threats to kill, and he will appear in court for a detention hearing on April 14.

The Department of Justice has stated that it will pursue maximum punishment for anyone making such threats.
