An Ondo farmer, Adegoke has reportedly beaten two men to death on his farm in Ore, Odigbo Local Government Area of the state last week, for stealing produce from his farm.

It was gathered that Adegoke claimed that the deceased and some others from the neighbouring community had been stealing produce from his farm.

He added that the suspected thieves also stole his motorcycle parked on the farm.

A source who spoke anonymously to newsmen said, on the fateful day, Adegoke was said to have met some people again on the farm.

It was learnt that Adegoke allegedly engaged the intruders in a fight, killing two and injuring others.

The source said, “Some suspected thieves had been stealing Adegoke’s farm produce. Before now, his cocoa, kola nuts, and plantains had been missing from his farm often. The thieves had also stolen his motorcycle on the same farm.

“But he caught some people on the farm again and beat them to stupor, and in the process, two died, and others were injured.”

Reacting to the matter, the Ondo state Police command Public Relations Officer, Funmilayo Odunlami, confirmed the arrest of the suspect, saying investigation has commenced into the matter.

“Investigation into the incident is ongoing,” the PPRO stated.
