Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force have taken over the Azbir Hotel and Azbir Arena, which belong to the former Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami SAN, in Kebbi State.
This action follows his investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over alleged money laundering and abuse of office.
Recall that the anti-graft agency invited Malami for questioning on November 28.
Earlier, Malami raised serious alarm over what he described as “threatening actions” by the EFCC, as its operatives conducted coordinated raids on his offices and private residences in Abuja and Kebbi State.
Josef Onoh, a former spokesman for the South-East to President Bola Tinubu, accused Malami of hypocrisy and disregard for the rule of law during his time in office.
In a statement, Onoh urged Malami to “stop what he described as attempts to blackmail and intimidate the Chairman of the EFCC, Ola Olukoyede, and instead submit himself to ongoing investigations.”
