Lagos police arrest couple for kidnapping, blackmailing online vendor

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a couple for allegedly kidnapping and blackmailing an online vendor in the Iyana-Ishashi area of the state.

Police spokesperson Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed the arrest on Monday during a press briefing at the command headquarters in Ikeja.

According to Hundeyin, the victim was lured to the suspects’ residence under the guise of delivering a product. Upon her arrival, she was forcefully dragged into the house by a man and a woman.

“The suspects assaulted the victim, stripped her naked, and took explicit photographs of her,” he said.

Hundeyin explained that the suspects demanded a ransom of ₦2 million, threatening to leak the photographs if their demands were not met. The victim was compelled to pay ₦300,000 before being released.

After gaining her freedom, she reported the incident to the police. The suspects were tracked and arrested shortly after.

“They are currently in custody, and investigations are ongoing,” Hundeyin added.
