Lagos: building collapses after fire outbreak

A section of one of the five buildings caught in the blaze at Dosumu Market, situated off Idumagbo in Lagos, collapsed on Tuesday.

The collapse was reportedly caused by the intensity of the fire, as stated by Ibrahim Farinloye, Lagos territorial coordinator of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), in a brief statement released on Tuesday in Lagos, as reported by the News Agency of Nigeria.

However, he said the cause of the fire was unknown and that an investigation was ongoing to determine it.

“The firefighters are battling to put out the inferno”, he said.
