Lagos Assembly Approves Sanwo-Olu’s Appointees for Key State Commissions

The Lagos State House of Assembly has approved several individuals nominated by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for important positions in various state commissions.

These appointments include the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC), Lagos State Electricity Regulatory Commission, and Lagos State Civil Service Commission.

The confirmation process followed a report from the 12-member Ad hoc Committee on Screening of Nominees, led by Hon. Mojeed Fatai, a representative from Ibeju-Lekki I, during a plenary session.

The individuals confirmed for the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission include Prince Adewale Taorid Ojora, who will serve as a member.

For the Lagos State Electricity Regulatory Commission, several people were approved, including Engr. Abimbola Odubiyi as Chairman (Non-Executive), Mr. Tunde Gbajumo as a Member (Non-Executive), Dr. Animashaun Fouad Olayinka as CEO/Executive Member, Barr. Kofo Olokun as an Executive Member, and Engr. Oluwaseun Fadare as another Executive Member.

For the Lagos State Civil Service Commission, the Assembly confirmed Mrs. Dapo-Thomas Bolade, Mr. Fatai Lasisi, Mr. Afolabi Sobowale, Mr. Rufus Adedapo, and Mr. Lateef Yahaya as members.

Additionally, the reappointments of Mr. Jide Badmos and Ms. Yinka Shitta-Bey to the Governing Council of the Office of the Public Defender were also approved.

In a separate matter, the Assembly discussed and accepted a petition from the Oriba Community in Epe Local Government, seeking to join the Ladaba Community’s ongoing petition.

The committee’s report on this petition was approved during the session.
