Three members of the Deeper Life Bible Church were kidnapped on Monday evening while returning from a Bible study session at the Kasemola area in Ogbese, Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State. The abductors have now asked for a total ransom of N15 million to release the victims.
The families of those taken said the kidnappers reached out and are demanding N5 million for each person. In response, relatives and members of the church are making efforts to gather the money with help from well-wishers and fellow worshippers.
The church has also taken a spiritual approach to the situation. Special prayers are being offered by dedicated prayer groups to seek divine help for the safe return of the victims. Meanwhile, the matter has been reported to the police and the Amotekun security outfit.
The police spokesperson in Ondo State, Ayanlade Olayinka, confirmed the incident but mentioned that the number of victims is still being verified. He said that officers have begun searching the nearby forest areas to find and rescue the kidnapped members.
Security teams made up of police officers and members of the Amotekun Corps are now working together, combing through possible hideouts in a bid to catch the suspects and bring the victims home safely.
