Former World Champion and American hurdler, Keni Harrison has poured encomiums on Nigeria’s track sensation Tobi Amusan for smashing her 100m women’s hurdles world record, reports Starnews.com.ng.
The 29-year-old set the world record in the women’s 100 metres hurdles with a time of 12.20 seconds on July 22, 2016 at the London Müller Anniversary Games, breaking the world record of 12.21 seconds set nearly 28 years earlier by Bulgarian athlete Yordanka Donkova.
Amusan amazed athletics fans all over the world in the 100m women’s hurdles on Monday, after she wiped out the world record in the semi-final to clock a time of 12.12sec, and powered to win the final in 12.06sec in Oregon, United States.
Harrison on her verified Twitter handle posted a tweet which read: “Congrats to Tobi, records are meant to be broken and you smashed mine. Glad to see the record gets to stay in the Adidas family.”
Amusan was rewarded with a sum of $70,000 for winning gold at the event and $100,000 for her 12:12 world record feat.
