Kano Hisbah Arrests Couple Over Restaurant Wedding

The Kano State Hisbah Board has arrested a man and his girlfriend for conducting their wedding at Banana Restaurant on Zoo Road, Kano.

The board’s Deputy Commander of Operations, Dr. Mujahideen Abubakar, confirmed the arrest on Thursday. He said Hisbah officers raided the restaurant on Wednesday night after receiving a report about the event.

The marriage was arranged by the groom’s friends without the consent of the couple’s parents.

According to Hisbah, this act goes against Islamic law, and they will not tolerate such violations in the state.

The deputy commander stated that the board is also searching for the guests who attended the wedding but escaped when officers arrived.

He explained that the couple did not follow the proper marriage conditions, which makes the union invalid under Shari’a law.

The board has vowed to take necessary action against those involved in the unlawful ceremony.
