Muhuyi Magaji, the Chairman of the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission, was arrested by police detectives reportedly dispatched from the office of the Inspector General of Police.

According to Afripost, eyewitnesses reported that Magaji was detained at his office on Friday, but the officers did not offer any explanation for their actions.

Inside sources from the commission revealed that the detectives arrived unannounced and insisted on taking Magaji into custody without clarifying the reason for the arrest.

There is speculation that the detention is linked to an ongoing investigation into the alleged misappropriation of ₦4 billion and assets belonging to the Kano Agricultural Supply Company Limited (KASCO) during the previous administration.

Only two weeks ago, the commission had flagged a failed attempt to seize over ₦2 billion worth of assets, including several vehicles connected to the former Managing Director of KASCO.

After his arrest, Magaji was transported to the One Police Headquarters in Kano, where it is claimed he was denied access to his legal representation.

As of this report, neither the police nor the Kano State government has issued an official statement regarding the arrest.
