JUST IN: Scores kidnapped as Bandits ambush Dangote staff bus in Edo

Gunmen seized an unspecified group of Dangote Cement employees on Monday, during which several workers sustained gunshot wounds.

The incident occurred as the workers were heading home from their shift, facing an ambush by suspected bandits in Okpella, Edo, a town near Okene in Kogi state.

As of Monday evening, the exact number of wounded individuals and the severity of their injuries remained unclear, according to witnesses.

“Other people are in the bush. My colleague has bullet wounds. A coaster bus filled with staff was attacked at Okpella. Kidnappers,” a witness said. “They kidnapped our whole staff bus. Kidnappers took our staff.”

Michael Odofin, a spokesperson for Okpella Cement Plc, confirmed the attack and abduction.

“I cannot give any details right now. The attack is still fresh. We have no one killed,” said Mr Odofin.
