JUST IN: NECO Announces Release of 2025 BECE Results

The National Examinations Council (NECO) has released the results of the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), marking the conclusion of this year’s junior secondary school assessments.

Azeez Sani, NECO’s Acting Director of Public Affairs, confirmed the development in a statement on Wednesday, disclosing that a total of 179,201 students registered for the examination, which covered 12 different subjects. The exam took place from May 12 to May 23, 2025.

The release of the results followed the successful conduct of the 2025 BECE Award Committee meeting held at the Council’s headquarters in Minna, Niger State.

Dr. (Mrs.) Folake David, who chaired the meeting and serves as Director of Basic Education at the Federal Ministry of Education, commended NECO for its efforts and expressed satisfaction with the integrity of the process.

The meeting was also attended by selected principals from secondary schools across Nigeria, as well as officials of NECO.

In addition, the committee approved the schedule for the BECE re-sit exams. According to the council, candidates who are to retake Mathematics and English Studies will do so on July 23 and 24, 2025.
