JUST IN: Gov Aiyedatiwa resolves to pick deputy from Owo

Ondo State Governor, H.E, Lucky Aiyedatiwa has resolved to pick his deputy from Owo, where the late ex-Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu hails from, Starnews NG can report.

The position of Ondo State Deputy Governor became vacant after Aiyedatiwa was sworn-in as the Executive Governor of the state following the demise of Akeredolu who died a few days ago after a long battle with cancer.

An associate of the deputy governor who spoke in a telephone interview with Starnews NG at the wee hours of Tuesday said Aiyedatiwa decided to pick his deputy from Owo to honour the memory of his late boss, who reposed so much trust and confidence in him before people attempted to strain their relationship after late Akeredolu took ill before he finally died.

“Please don’t quote me, I can tell you that he has resolved to pick an Indigene of Owo community in Owo Local Government Area of Ondo State to complete the term of Aketi. He’s doing that to honour the memory of his boss who reposed so much trust and confidence in him before people took advantage of Akeredolu’s illness to strain their relationship.

When asked if the governor is also considering running for the Ondo State 2024 gubernatorial election with an Indigene of Owo if he wins the ticket of his party, the source said, “that I can’t say because I don’t know his mind. But we have advised him to pick a running mate from Ondo Central in order not to truncate the political tradition of the state”
