Suspended Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has reportedly paid a courtesy visit to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Lagos.
The visit was confirmed by the President’s Special Adviser on Media and Information Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, who disclosed the development on his verified Facebook page on Tuesday.
“Governor Sim Fubara of Rivers, now on suspension from office, visited President Bola Tinubu in Lagos on Tuesday,” Onanuga stated.
This meeting comes in the wake of President Tinubu’s nationwide broadcast on March 18, 2025, during which he declared a state of emergency in Rivers State. The declaration was made following escalating tensions and unrest between Governor Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, which had threatened the peace and security of the state.
Consequent to the emergency declaration, President Tinubu announced the suspension of Governor Fubara, his Deputy Mrs. Ngozi Odu, as well as all elected members of the Rivers State House of Assembly for an initial period of six months.
To manage the affairs of the state during this period, the President appointed retired Vice Admiral Ibokette Ibas as the Administrator of Rivers State.
The federal government’s decisive actions reflect its commitment to restoring law and order in the troubled state.
