The Federal Government has dismissed reports suggesting that its ministerial press briefings are being shifted from Abuja to London.
As reported by Poltics Nigeria, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, made this clear during the eighth edition of the Ministerial Press Briefing, which took place at the National Press Centre in Abuja.
He described the reports as baseless and assured that the sessions remain grounded in Nigeria.
“This platform by the Ministry of Information and National Orientation is operating right here in Nigeria. That should lay to rest any insinuations about relocating abroad,” he stated.
The session was attended by several other top government officials, including the Minister of Arts, Culture and the Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa; Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation, Professor Joseph Utsev; and the Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi. Umahi also dismissed the rumor, affirming that it held no truth.
Idris also used the occasion to highlight recent improvements in the economy, pointing to data from the National Bureau of Statistics which shows that headline inflation dropped to 23.71 percent in April 2025, down from 24.23 percent recorded in March.
According to him, food inflation has also slowed, standing at 21.26 percent on a year-on-year basis and easing to 2.06 percent monthly.
Although he acknowledged that challenges still exist, the minister expressed optimism that the country is making steady progress.
He reiterated the Tinubu administration’s commitment to policies that prioritize the well-being of Nigerians.
He concluded by urging the media to approach national issues with responsibility and to help convey accurate information to the public, stressing that the government remains answerable to the people.
