Jonathan calls on FG to support stampede victims, urges preventive measures

Former President Goodluck Jonathan has urged the Federal Government to offer comprehensive support to the victims of the recent stampedes in Ibadan, Okija (Anambra State), and Abuja.

In a Christmas message released on Monday, December 23, Jonathan expressed deep sorrow over the incidents and called for measures to prevent such tragedies in the future.

“As we navigate through this painful period, I encourage all Nigerians to show compassion and solidarity, especially during this festive season,” Jonathan said, addressing the nation.

He stressed the importance of praying for the victims and their families, while emphasizing the need for unity and care during Christmas.

“Christmas is a time of love, unity, and hope. It reminds us of the significance of caring for one another and working towards peace and harmony in our communities,” he added.

The former president also conveyed his warm wishes to Nigerians, urging them to remain hopeful and resilient despite the challenges.

“I wish all Nigerians a Merry Christmas filled with joy, peace, and love. May the new year bring renewed hope and prosperity to our country,” Jonathan concluded.
