The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced the suspension of law degree admissions in eight universities across Nigeria for the 2025/2026 academic session.
According to Politics Nigeria, this action follows a directive from the Council of Legal Education, which suspended the Bachelor of Laws programme at these institutions.
JAMB spokesperson Fabian Benjamin stated that, as a result of the suspension, the board will not approve admissions for students seeking to study law at these universities.
The affected institutions include Kwara State University, Bingham University, Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Redeemers University, Western Delta University, Taraba State University, Arthur Jarvis University, and the Nigerian Police Academy.
Additionally, Benjamin confirmed that the suspension of the law programme at the Nigerian Police Academy would last for two academic sessions, specifically the 2025/2026 and 2026/2027 sessions.
The ban on registration for the law programme at the academy will be extended through the 2026/2027 academic year.
