I’m Igbo by Blood, Davido Replies Tribal Remark

By Charles Maduka

Nigerian music icon David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has addressed a tribal comment made on social media, affirming that he is of Igbo descent.

The controversy started after a user on X, @Yakbel, warned the singer against associating closely with the Igbo community, claiming they would eventually betray him. The user wrote that Davido was “carrying Ibo full body” and suggested he would regret mingling with Igbos as a Yoruba man.

Reacting to the post, Davido responded with a short but firm reply: “Lol, I AM IGBO by blood.”

His response has since drawn wide support from fans and the public, many of whom commended him for dismissing tribal divisions and promoting unity across ethnic lines.

The singer’s statement also follows his recent meeting with Nigerian highlife veteran Bright Chimezie, whom Davido credited for inspiring a verse in his song ‘With You.’

Davido’s stance reinforces his commitment to cultural inclusivity and a united Nigeria, regardless of background or tribe.
