IGP Dissolves Police Team For Running Vehicle Over Suspect

In a courageous step aimed at addressing the inappropriate behavior of certain Police Officers affiliated with the Edo State Police Command, who were responsible for a tragic incident involving a citizen in the Ekpoma local government area, the Acting Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olukayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has taken decisive action by immediately disbanding the team.

This proactive measure seeks to establish a systematized and standardized approach to police operations in that region, with the primary objective of restoring public confidence in the Police Force.

The announcement was made by the Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), Muyiwa Adejobi, who shared the details of these actions on his Twitter account on Thursday.

Adejobi further explained that the officers involved in the incident would face disciplinary charges and undergo appropriate administrative procedures.

“This significant decision underscores the IGP’s unwavering commitment to holding officers accountable for their conduct, which will never be condoned within the Nigeria Police Force.”

The FPRO emphasized that the Inspector-General of Police reaffirms his dedication to upholding the highest standards of professionalism and ethical behavior. Additionally, he urged the general public to always cooperate with Police Officers in the fulfillment of their lawful duties.
