IDPD 2024: JONAPWD urges unity, appeals for subvention release

As the world marks the International Day for Persons with Disabilities, themed “Amplifying the Leadership of Persons with Disabilities for an Inclusive and Sustainable Future,” the Chairman of the Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities (JONAPWD), Ondo State Chapter, Abiodun Samuel Olusegun, has called for collective efforts among leaders within the disability community.

In his message commemorating the day, Olusegun emphasized the need for unity among cluster leaders within the disability community, urging them to collaborate to secure a brighter future for persons with disabilities.

He appreciated Ondo State Governor Lucky Orimisan Ayedatiwa for his administration’s commitment to the welfare of persons with disabilities, particularly the recent payment of scholarship awards to students in tertiary institutions, which saw an upward review for the 2023/2024 academic session.

The JONAPWD chairman, however, appealed to the Governor to approve and release the 2024 Annual Subvention, which is used to run the various associations’ secretariats and the International Day Celebration Fund.
